Because of what happened last time, I felt quite guilty towards Miss Xu, the campus queen. Since I bumped into her this time, I decided to go up and apologize, hoping Xu Xin wouldn’t be so petty and could let bygones be bygones.
I quickened my pace and caught up with her, loudly shouting, “Miss, please wait!” The moment I shouted, I regretted it. Since it was break time, many girls were wandering in the hallway. My shout attracted all of their attention, and they turned their heads to look at me.
One of them even threw me a flirtatious glance and said, “Handsome, are you calling me?”
However, Xu Xin didn’t turn around and kept walking.
I awkwardly laughed at that girl and then called out, “Miss Xu!”
Xu Xin finally turned around with a frown. When she saw it was me, her frown gradually relaxed, and there was even a hint of excitement. But soon, she put on a look of anger and turned to leave.
Seeing this, I felt much more at ease. It seemed she wasn’t really angry with me anymore and was just putting on an act. I thought a simple apology would settle things.
Just as I was about to catch up with her, Zhang Yu stopped me. “Xia Tian, are we brothers or not?”
“Of course we are. What’s up?” I was baffled by Zhang Yu’s actions, not knowing what he was up to.
Zhang Yu seemed to want to confirm something and continued to ask, “Are you sure?”
“You idiot, spit it out if you’ve got something to say!” I was getting impatient as Xu Xin was already walking far away, and I was afraid I wouldn’t catch up.
“How about you let me have that beauty?” Zhang Yu said, eyeing Xu Xin with a lustful look.
I laughed, realizing that this guy was interested in her.
“She’s not mine. If you have the skills, go ahead and chase her!” Xu Xin and I were just friends, so if Zhang Yu wanted to pursue her, it didn’t matter to me.
“With your words, I’m relieved!” Zhang Yu let out an excited scream, drawing the attention of the nearby girls again.
To avoid being seen as crazy, I quickly distanced myself from Zhang Yu, maintaining my image as a positive and handsome guy.
Together with Zhang Yu, I caught up with Xu Xin and smiled, saying, “Still angry?”
“Hmph!” Xu Xin snorted coldly and turned her head away, ignoring me. Knowing her thoughts, I wasn’t in a hurry.
“How about I treat you to a meal?” I asked tentatively.
Xu Xin still didn’t respond. Why was this girl so stubborn?
I suddenly jumped in front of Xu Xin, spread my arms, and shamelessly said, “Then hit me if you want!”
Zhang Yu joined in the fun, “This guy needs a beating. Let me help you!” He kicked me in the leg.
“Ow! You really did it!” I grimaced in pain. Being taller, I easily grabbed Zhang Yu by the neck.
“I didn’t mean to. Besides, for a brother’s love, a little sacrifice isn’t too much, right?” Zhang Yu whispered to me.
I thought he had a point but couldn’t let him off that easily. I whispered back, “Don’t go too hard, and you owe me a meal afterward.”
“No problem!” It was the first time I saw Zhang Yu being so generous.
Zhang Yu didn’t really hit hard after that, but I tried my best to act convincingly. However, my poor acting skills were quickly seen through by Xu Xin.
“Stop pretending. I forgive you this time!” Xu Xin covered her mouth and laughed.
“Didn’t you just say you’d treat me to a meal? Let’s go out now,” Xu Xin said, smiling at me. I was surprised that she remembered my casual offer.
Treating a beautiful girl to a meal didn’t seem like a bad deal. Just as I was about to agree, Zhang Yu tossed his hair and said, “We’re all friends here. This meal’s on me!”
Hearing Zhang Yu’s words, I felt like grabbing his hand and saying, “Good brother!”
“If I’m treating, you’re paying,” I patted Zhang Yu’s shoulder. Before he could be happy, I added, “Let’s go!”
Xu Xin laughed and walked alongside me.
“This isn’t fair!” Zhang Yu complained but quickly caught up with us, saying, “Wait for me!”
The three of us walked to the school gate, but it was closed. Only then did we realize that the school was under closed management.
“What now?” Xu Xin asked helplessly.
Zhang Yu thought for a moment, “How about we go to the school cafeteria?”
“Are you kidding? You want to treat the campus queen to a meal in the cafeteria?” I glared at Zhang Yu, annoyed that he didn’t cherish the opportunity.
This guy was usually smart. Why was he so foolish now? Could love really make people stupid?
“What do you suggest then?” Zhang Yu scratched his head helplessly.
Looking at Zhang Yu and Xu Xin, I smiled and said, “Let’s sneak out for a meal!”
“What if we get caught?” Xu Xin hesitated, and Zhang Yu echoed, “It’s no problem for us guys, but she’s a girl.”
“Who said girls can’t climb walls?” Xu Xin glared at Zhang Yu and said, “Let’s go!”
The three of us sneaked to the boys’ restroom. Most people were in their dorms, so it was empty. Still, Xu Xin’s face was red, quite different from when she scolded Zhang Yu earlier.
“Is this your first time in the boys’ restroom?” I teased Xu Xin, planning to flirt with her a bit.
“So what if it is?” Xu Xin replied stubbornly.
I chuckled, “Nothing.”
“I’ll scout ahead. Xu Xin, you go second. Zhang Yu, you bring up the rear.” Zhang Yu gave me an OK gesture, and I climbed the wall and jumped over. With my current physique, jumping a wall was easy.
Xu Xin was nervous as it was her first time. She sat on the wall, not daring to come down, which left me speechless.
“Come down, I’ll catch you!” If she kept delaying, it would be night study time, and she might still be stuck up there.
“Xia Tian, let’s just eat at the school cafeteria.” Xu Xin was still hesitant. I sighed, “If you don’t come down, I’m leaving.” I pretended to turn and leave.
“You better catch me!” Just as I was about to respond, Xu Xin jumped down. Oh no! This was serious!
I rushed to where she was falling, arms outstretched, and caught her. The impact almost knocked me over, but I managed.
“Are you okay?” I asked, concerned.
Xu Xin lowered her head, “Put me down first.”
I realized our position was quite intimate and quickly put her down.
As soon as Xu Xin was down, Zhang Yu jumped over the wall and saw us. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing!” I laughed it off, noticing small shoe prints on Zhang Yu’s shoulder and changed the topic, “Why are your shoulders so dirty?”
“Oh, that.” Zhang Yu looked at his shoulders and brushed off the dirt, “Xu Xin couldn’t get up by herself, so I helped her.”
I had intended for Zhang Yu to bring up the rear so he could get closer to Xu Xin. But this guy was too honest and even got his clothes dirty. Poor guy.
“Miss Xu, where should we eat?” I asked.
Xu Xin thought for a moment and said, “KFD.”
Oh no! Not that place!
