Thinking about at it, Ian realized then that the knight had been acting against them from the start.
‘Well, he’s suspicious since he came with those guys.’
The more peaceful a city appeared, the more corruption and filth seemed to overflow. It wasn’t too strange for the backstreet b*stards to collude with the knights who protected the security of the realm, especially in this city right next to the academy, which remained safe because of the unique system in this world.
“Hahh…you. And you.”
Ian pointed at the knight who had raised his sword at them and the bully who had been beaten by Theresia.
“The two of you will be thrown into prison unconditionally.”
Ian hated looking like a bad guy, so he intended to ensure that the two spend at least three years in prison. As a summoner, he had that kind of authority. It was ironic to know that they would enjoy the peaceful world he had created for them, even behind bars…
“Attack!”
The knight raised his sword and went on the offensive. The soldiers who had followed him screamed and leaped after him.
Watching him mercilessly raise his sword at them made Ian question whether protecting such garbage was worth it.
“Theresia.”
“Yes, Master.”
“… You haven’t even heard what I was going to say yet.”
“I know without you saying it.”
Theresia, who was flexing her fingers, looked at the knights and soldiers rushing toward her and smiled.
“As long as I don’t k!ll them, it’s fine, right?”
And so, she charged forward.

[Ian’s POV]
After a fight hardly worth describing, I looked down at the knight lying on the ground.
His limbs were broken, and he crawled helplessly on the floor.
“How much did you take in bribes to listen to those trash?” I asked.
“How…how dare you! You won’t get away with it…!” he stammered.
“Hey, knight. Do you even know who you’ve offended?”
Despite his elite status, the knight refused to abandon his pride. However, when I held out my hand, revealing the pattern on its back, his expression shifted instantly.
“Summoner… sir?”
“So, you recognize it at a glance.”
He must have seen Summoners before, likely even fought alongside them on the battlefield. As realization dawned on him, despair replaced his earlier defiance.
Leaving the knight in his misery, I grabbed one of the soldiers who had followed him.
“Hey, where’s the lord’s mansion?” I asked.
“Wh-why do you want to go there?” the soldier stammered, panic evident in his voice.
“Why do you think? I’m going to report this incident.”
The fact that the Knight of the Territory had attacked a Summoner—and had even attempted to harm academy cadets who had yet to fully mature—was a crime of the highest order, far surpassing the murder of a nobleman.
Summoners were nobles, and even candidates who had not yet ascended were treated more preciously than most.
Realizing the gravity of his actions, the knight fell to his knees, trembling in despair.
“S-sir, please spare me!”
“What’s with the sudden change of heart?”
“I-I was wrong! Please, I beg you…!”
Of course, informing the lord of this incident would likely result in the knight’s execution on the spot. Worse, it could drag down his family, relatives, and even friends.
A single well-bred knight held less value than a 1-star Summoner. In this case, there were two 3-star Summoners present—a talent that could not be replaced, even if nine generation of his family were destroyed to find it.
But why should I worry about someone who had threatened my life? Mercy was a privilege of the strong, and exercising it was entirely my choice.
Leaving the knight to his despair, I followed the soldier to the lord’s castle. There, we met the lord, who was buried in paperwork and muttering to himself.
The lord raised his head, tilting it slightly when he saw the two of us.
“… Who are you?”
“Nice to meet you, my lord.”
“A Summoner… at this hour? Why are you here?”
“It’s not a big deal…but,”
I explained the situation, omitting the fact that Syrah and I were academy cadets. I described how we were attacked by thugs while on vacation, how the thugs returned with knights, and how it escalated from there.
Upon hearing the story, the lord’s face darkened, and anger overtook him. He muttered about how such actions were an affront to the vested interests of the realm.
“I’m sorry. I’ll act swiftly on this matter.”
Unfortunately for the knight, his fate had been sealed the moment the lord heard our account.
