Chapter 59: Meng Miaoxue Severely Injured

Zuo Si was very eager to know the current situation of the haunted house. However, his primary objective at this moment was to subdue Liu Wenguang first.

The scattered gusts of cold wind within the room gradually settled into silence.

Ge Hong’s grotesque appearance was terrifying in itself. At this moment, she was gripping Liu Wenguang’s neck with one hand, ready to tear him apart at Zuo Si’s command.

“Boss, I… I was confused for a moment. Please spare my life!” Liu Wenguang’s weak voice came through.

“What about Meng Miaoxue? And Gu Yiyi, who just arrived! Are they in danger?!”

“Meng, Meng Miaoxue has sustained some minor injuries, but as for Gu Yiyi, I haven’t seen her.”

Liu Wenguang’s current demeanor was so honest and straightforward. If Zuo Si hadn’t witnessed Ge Hong subduing him with his own eyes, he would hardly believe that this was the same person who wanted to kill him.

“Heh! Now you know fear? Weren’t you just trying to kill me?!”

“Boss, I was momentarily possessed by a ghost. Please forgive me; I won’t dare to do it again.”

“Forgive you? Heh, no problem!” Zuo Si nodded grimly; he had never hated someone so much!

“Boss…” Liu Wenguang wanted to plead for mercy again, but Zuo Si was already too disinterested to listen. The most important thing now was to return to the haunted house and check the situation.

“Ge Hong, take Liu Wenguang back to the haunted house first; I will follow shortly.”

After hearing his instructions, Ge Hong took Liu Wenguang and transformed into wisps of thin mist, disappearing from sight.

‘It seems that as long as someone carries the host of the ghost, they can take the ghost away from the land of the dead,’ Zuo Si sighed inwardly. ‘I won’t think about it anymore; these ghosts are far more complicated than I imagined. I will figure it all out sooner or later.’

He tore the quilt into strips and tied them into a rope, climbing down from the second floor. This area was too desolate; even at ten o’clock at night, there were hardly any cars passing by. He called for a ride using his phone and waited for quite a while before it arrived.

Upon returning to the haunted house, Zuo Si hurriedly ran towards the terror scene, heading straight for Operating Room No. 3.

Inside the horror scene, the atmosphere was ominously dreadful, and Zuo Si feared that something unexpected might happen, so he ran frantically.

When he opened the door, he found Meng Miaoxue and Ge Hong in a standoff. Meng Miaoxue was surrounded by chaotic Yin Qi, with a large hole in her chest, clearly suffering from severe injuries.

Gu Yiyi stood beside her, looking aggrieved and on the verge of tears. Meanwhile, Ge Hong coldly held Liu Wenguang’s neck, remaining motionless.

Seeing that both Meng Miaoxue and Gu Yiyi were not in mortal danger, Zuo Si breathed a sigh of relief. However, his hatred for Liu Hong and Liu Wenguang had not diminished in the slightest!

It would not be difficult for these two to harm Meng Miaoxue; after all, she had only recently become a vengeful spirit. Even if she was stronger than Liu Wenguang, it wasn’t by much. Thus, Liu Hong and Liu Wenguang only needed to employ a little strategy to deal with her.

As for Gu Yiyi? She was as clean as a blank sheet of paper, incapable of even scaring anyone, and had no combat ability whatsoever. The reason she had not been injured was undoubtedly due to Meng Miaoxue’s protection.

Zuo Si took out his black phone and checked the fear value balance, which stood at 2091. Including the amount previously used by Ge Hong, the total was 7091, an increase of 765 points since this morning.

“This 765 points of fear must have been earned from scaring tourists,” Zuo Si thought as he fed all 2091 points of fear to Meng Miaoxue, hoping to alleviate her injuries.

“I wonder if this will be effective.” Zuo Si stared at the large hole in Meng Miaoxue’s chest, noticing that it was visibly healing at a rapid pace. Within a dozen seconds, it returned to normal.

Zuo Si sighed in relief; as long as she could recover, that was good enough. “Ge Hong, this is Meng Miaoxue, a good friend of mine.” Zuo Si introduced them, hoping to ease the tense atmosphere. However, it seemed to have little effect.

He couldn’t help but think, “The black phone said that ghosts are very sensitive to other similar beings intruding on their territory; it seems that was not an exaggeration.”

Zuo Si stepped in front of Meng Miaoxue, apologizing, “I’m sorry. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have been hurt.”

Meng Miaoxue shook her head, and on her expressionless face, a hint of self-reproach emerged. She was actually blaming herself for not keeping a close watch on Liu Wenguang.

Zuo Si felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him as he said, “This is all my fault for being too careless. If I had just let Liu Wenguang’s soul scatter that day, we wouldn’t have had to go through this ordeal. Yet, I didn’t even clarify his identity and recklessly left him in the haunted house!…”

Zuo Si had already recognized his mistake, and this incident served as a wake-up call for him. These ghost employees, especially those who held no goodwill towards him, were not one hundred percent loyal.

“Boss… I’m sorry, can you please let me off this time? I’ll do anything you ask in the future!” At that moment, Liu Wenguang resembled a dog, wagging its tail in a plea for mercy.

“It’s fine, as long as you know your mistake,” Zuo Si replied with a slight smile, but this smile did not ease Liu Wenguang’s tension; instead, it carried a hint of cruelty.

Suddenly, footsteps approached quickly from a distance, heading towards Operating Room No. 3.

Zuo Si remained calm and first instructed Meng Miaoxue and Gu Yiyi to conceal themselves.

Soon, an old man and an old woman arrived at the door of the operating room. Their faces were dark and sullen, breathing heavily, glaring fiercely at Zuo Si.

Upon seeing Ge Hong and Liu Wenguang, their expressions changed to one of shock.

“Let go of my son! Otherwise, I will make you wish you were never born!” Liu Hong threatened like a madman, his demeanor a far cry from the amiable old man he had been before.

Perhaps this was his true nature.

Before Zuo Si could speak, Ge Hong’s expression turned vicious, her face darkening as she shot a venomous glare at Liu Hong, causing Liu Wenguang, who was in her grasp, to let out a painful scream.

Liu Hong was startled by Ge Hong’s fierce demeanor, but quickly regained his composure, narrowing his eyes at Zuo Si, “What do you want?”

“What do I want? Your family has caused so many deaths! You almost killed me, and now you dare to ask what I want?!”

“Those people deserved to die! This haunted house belongs to our family! I warned them not to buy it! But they didn’t listen! They deserved to die!”

“Haha, ridiculous! On what grounds do you claim this haunted house is yours?!”

“Five years ago, my son bought this place! It is the culmination of my son’s life’s work, and I will not allow anyone to touch it!!”

“What a joke! If it’s yours, then why is the ownership in someone else’s hands?”

“Because… because we couldn’t pay the loan, and it was reclaimed by the court…” Liu Hong’s voice trailed off, losing its conviction.

“Is that your reason for murder? ‘Insane’ doesn’t even begin to describe your family!!”

“What do you know!” the old woman standing beside him suddenly shouted, “My son had just bought this haunted house when he was electrocuted here. We suffered the pain of losing a child! It’s bad enough that no one helped us! Those people even tried to take the haunted house back! We were forced into this!”
