Chapter 18: Alone and Bored

I gave an awkward smile. In this situation, I had no intention of interacting too much with He Lulu. Even if Fangfang and I did not have that kind of relationship, I was, after all, a married man. Both sentiment and reason demanded that I keep a proper distance from He Lulu.

Soon, an array of colourful street-food specialties were served. Seeing Fangfang and He Lulu enjoying themselves immensely, I relaxed. Everyone chatting and laughing together felt perfectly natural.

“Brother Nan, where are we going next?” He Lulu asked with a light smile, and Fangfang also turned to look at me.

“Lulu, since you’ve come to Changsha, we absolutely have to visit Juzizhou Scenic Area,” I said after a moment’s thought.

At those words, He Lulu readily agreed, and Fangfang chimed in, saying the scenery there was indeed breathtaking.

We drove toward the scenic area. After I bought the tickets, I led the two beautiful w0men inside.

Truth be told, I hadn’t been here in many years. The place had changed quite a bit, and with National Day approaching, tourists were already pouring in.

Fangfang and He Lulu strolled and posed for photos, having the time of their lives, while I trailed behind, occasionally taking group shots for them.

“Wow, I’m having so much fun today! Fangfang, it’s been ages since we’ve enjoyed ourselves like this. We took so many photos!”

“Yes, Lulu, you really should stay a couple more days this time.”

“I can only stay two days at most. The day after tomorrow I have to go home, and anyway, you’re newly wed—you won’t have time to keep me company.”

“That’s true. Then let’s take a few more together.”

Amid their continuous chatter, I stood to the side smiling silently. Soon the sun was setting, so I suggested Fangfang and Lulu go for dinner, and we drove out of the scenic area.

After a lavish meal on the pedestrian street, the clock stopped at eight in the evening. We had truly had a wonderful day. Though Fangfang and He Lulu were clearly delighted, I could also see they were somewhat weary.

“Lulu, which hotel did you book? We’ll take you there now,” I asked when the time seemed right.

“Xiao Nan, Lulu booked the Sheraton. It’s relatively clean, and there were still rooms available before the holiday,” Fangfang explained.

“Fine. Let me see the rate,” I nodded slightly.

Since we had to look after our guest properly, how could we possibly let He Lulu pay? She had come for the wedding, after all; courtesy demanded we treat her well.

“There’s really no need…” He Lulu said with an embarrassed smile.

“Lulu, why be polite with us?” Fangfang quickly interjected.

In just a few minutes, I saw the room He Lulu had booked online.

The Sheraton was at least a five-star hotel in Changsha. Though its prices couldn’t compare with those in Shanghai, a standard room still cost over a thousand yuan.

“Lulu, I’ve sent you the room fee via WeChat. Please check,” I said calmly with a faint smile.

Hearing this, He Lulu hurriedly opened WeChat. When she saw the amount I’d transferred, she looked at me in surprise. “This… this is too much. My room had a discount—it doesn’t cost that much.”

“Tonight and tomorrow night—you’ll naturally stay both nights. Even if you leave, it will be the day after tomorrow. This is for two nights,” I explained.

“That’s right, Lulu. Just accept it. I’m already so happy you came to Changsha—how could I let you spend money?” Fangfang persuaded gently.

“Mm, thank you, Brother Nan!” He Lulu said gratefully.

“No problem. Let’s head back now,” I replied with a light smile.

Afterward, Fangfang suggested I first drop He Lulu at the hotel, then take her home.

When we had seen He Lulu to the hotel, Fangfang lightly pinched me.

“What is it, Sister-in-law?” I asked in surprise, turning to her.

“You bad man. Lulu keeps calling you ‘Brother Nan’ so sweetly—are you enjoying it?” Fangfang pouted, clearly a little unhappy.

“Good heavens, that’s just how she addresses me. You’re not jealous, are you?” I said quickly.

“Hmph. Anyway, hearing her call you so intimately makes me unhappy,” Fangfang continued.

“You can call me Brother Nan too. I’m older than you, after all,” I said, the corners of my m0uth lifting.

“Keep dreaming. No matter what, I’m still your sister-in-law,” Fangfang rolled her eyes.

The car started again, heading toward Fangfang’s home. Halfway there, I suddenly braked hard, an idea striking me.

Of course—right now Fangfang and I were alone together. Why go home so early? Such a perfect opportunity—we should at least share some intimacy in the car.

The thought made me pull over immediately.

“Xiao Nan, why did you stop?” Fangfang noticed something was off and looked at me in puzzlement.

“Sister-in-law, I missed you,” I said, taking a deep breath and grasping her soft hand.

At my touch, Fangfang’s face instantly flushed. She glanced out the window and whispered, “Right here?”

“Mm, there’s hardly anyone around,” I said, swiftly pulling Fangfang into an embrace.

Perhaps because we both craved closeness too much, we couldn’t hold back. In no time we were locked in a passionate k!ss, and I began exploring Fangfang’s b0dy. I pushed the seat back until it lay flat.

Soon Fangfang was pressed atop me, and my hands slipped beneath her cl0thes.

Ding-ling-ling!

Just as I was about to pull down Fangfang’s leggings, her phone rang. (G: really?)

“It’s your cousin!” Fangfang hurriedly returned to the passenger seat, straightening her cl0thes, while my heart jolted and I pretended nothing had happened.

“Hello, where are you?”

“Jiahao, Xiao Nan and I just dropped Lulu at the hotel. We’re on our way home now,” Fangfang answered quickly.

“Pass the phone to Xiao Nan.”

Hearing my cousin, I swiftly took the phone from Fangfang.

“Cousin,” I greeted, facing him on the video call.

“Xiao Nan, thank you so much for today. Tomorrow I must toast you several times. Drive safely tonight, and come early tomorrow,” my cousin said with an immediate smile when he saw me.

“Don’t worry, Cousin. Tomorrow is the bride-fetching day—I won’t be late,” I promised at once.

“Good. See you tomorrow.” My cousin nodded slightly and hung up.

“Xiao Nan, let’s go home,” Fangfang said with a small pout.

“Alright,” I nodded, and the car started again.

Neither of us spoke the rest of the way, but as we neared Fangfang’s residential complex, she suddenly took hold of my hand.

“Xiao Nan, ever since we got together, I don’t want to be with your cousin anymore,” Fangfang said, lightly biting her lip.

“What? That won’t do. Tomorrow is your wedding day—they might even play wedding-night pranks,” I said in utter shock.

“I’ve been feeling a bit unwell. I think my peri0d will start tonight,” Fangfang continued.

Hearing this, I was stunned, yet inwardly overjoyed—after all, I now regarded Fangfang as the w0man I truly loved.

“I’ll get out here then. Drive slowly on your way back,” Fangfang said, then gently k!ssed my cheek.

Watching Fangfang walk into the complex, I made a U-turn, ready to head home, when a WeChat message popped up.

“Brother Nan, I’m all alone in the hotel and so bored. Can you come keep me company? I want to see you.”

It was from He Lulu. When I read the message, I rubbed my eyes, afraid I had misread the words.
