Chapter 21: Spicy Rice Cake (part 2)

[Stella’s POV]

As she consciously tried to put herself together, her subconscious kept pulling her in the worst direction.

[Keeip!]

“…Salamander.”

[Keeing]

Feeling her depression, her summoned beast, Salamander came out and began to gently lick her face. As its warm tongue licked her face, Stella felt ticklish and smiled, “Thank you.”

[Creung! Crung!]

“I must have worried you?”

While stroking Salamander’s head, Stella to it in her embrace. The Salamander was nice and warm, so it gave her a pleasant feeling.

After an unknown amount of time, Stella heard some noise from the outside of the dormitory.

‘Has Nelia already returned from shopping?’

Stella headed to the door with the intention of helping her, and immediately opened the door.

“Nelia, you were quite quick…”

“Uh, sorry. It’s not Nelia…”

And, her eyes met the eyes of Ian, who was standing outside the door.

‘Why is he here?’

‘How did he get here?’

As all sorts of misconceptions clouded her mind, Stella suddenly became conscious of her current situation—she clothes she was currently wearing were thin pajamas intended for sleeping. And she also wasn’t wearing any underwear because it was uncomfortable.

Her unwashed hair was a tangled mess, and her bare face was without any sort of makeup.

In other words, it means that Stella was wearing an outfit that was too shameful to show to an outsider.

Thuudd!

Stella closed the door without saying a word.

Feeling a sense of dread, Ian waited outside the door for a while.

After waiting for about 10 minutes, Stella finally stuck out her head out the door. Now she had neatly combed hair and she had changed into a comfortable dress. She had also put on some light makeup, .

“What is it?”

“Eh?”

“How the hell did you get here?”

“They let me through because they recognized me from last time.”

“Those guards!”

After sending a fierce glare at the guards who let Ian through, Stella took a good look at him.

At the moment, Ian was holding a basket in his hand. There was a lot of ingredients inside, but since he was a man, there was no way he would be walking around while holding such a thing, so Stella judged that maybe he had met Nelia nearby and offered to help her out.

“What about Nelia?”

“Who is that…oh, Miss Maid?”

“Yes, where is she?”

“I don’t know?”

“You, don’t know? Then why do you have that?” Stella asked, pointing to the basket in Ian’s hand.

In response, Ian lifted the basket and said to her with a smirk.

“Spicy Rice Cake?”

“Spicy what?”

“Spicy Rice Cake.”

“…do you know how to cook?”

“Of course.”

Ian slightly pushed Stella aside and went inside.

After seeing the Salamander sticking out its tongue in the room, Ian faltered a little and then carefully entered the kitchen.

* * *

Tuck! Tuck! Tuck!

Although not at the level of a professional like Nelia, Ian’s knives skills made it clear that he’d been in the kitchen more than just once or twice.

‘He knows how to cook?’

And at that sight, Stella felt an unknown and mysterious emotion.

In this era, it was close to a sin for a man to stand in the kitchen.

The fact that Ian, the son of a Baron, knew how to cook, drew a picture of what kind of life he had led.

Stella felt a little moved by the fact that Ian was willing to do something that many would consider as humiliating, all for her sake.

As the pot simmered, it gave off the smell of the food in it. It was a smell that stung the nose, at the same time it was also very addictive.

“It’s done!”

And then, Ian brought the pot full of food and put it on the table.

Stella’s eyes glistened at the sight of the bright red food reminiscent of her hair, and then she looked at Ian and food alternately.

“…what’s this?”

“Have you never tried Spicy Rice Cake?”

“Yes.”

“Then you can try it now.”

Ian picked up a rice cake in front of him with a fork and lifted it up, then poked the fork at Stella.

Although it was normal to act in such a way towards a child, Stella had often seen many adults do it as well.

She immediately remembered the scene of a couple feeding each other in such a manner at the academy’s cafeteria.

“Eeek, are you crazy!?”

“What?”

“Wha…what are you doing right now!”

“I’m feeding you because you don’t know how to eat. Why are you reacting like that?”

“…do you really have no other intensions?”

“What are you talking about?”

Ian continued to hold out his fork as he said that, causing Stella to tilt her head in confusion.

As her flowing bangs were getting in the way, Stella tucked her hair behind her ears, and then opened her lips a little bit to avoid looking uncourteous.

The slightly hot rice cake touched her lips, and she carefully took a bite of the rice cake.

The rice cake was chewy, and the spicy flavor made her face heat up.

“What do you think?”

“It’s…spicy.”

“Then drink some milk.” Saying so, Ian handed her a glass of milk.

Stella carefully grabbed the glass with both hands and slowly took a sip.

The taste of cold milk washed away the spicy taste, and she also really liked the chewy texture of the rice cakes.

As she was about to take another bite, Stella found that Ian had eaten the rice cake she had just taken a bite from and he was about to eat another rice cake with the fork.

“Why did you eat that!!!?”

“Why are you screaming? And there’s a fork in front of you too. You should be able to eat it yourself.”

“That’s not it!”

‘Why did you eat the rice cake that I was eating?’ Stella couldn’t really say it out loud.

Ian looked like he didn’t care at all, but if she asked him that, it might seem like she was the only one who cared about such matters.

In the end, Stella carefully cut the rice cake and put it in her mouth.

Every time she ate, she glanced at Ian.

Every time she glanced, her face got hot.

Stella blamed it all on the rice cake being spicy. It was so spicy that her face was burning hot.

But, in her heart, she knew, that the reason her face got hot was, Ian.

  1. Player level 9001. Stella is cute. But it is good for her character growth that she learned about humility and how defeat tastes so early on.

    Thanks for chapter
