Chapter 82: Silence (part 2)

From my perspective, the situation seemed unfair.

Shael’s actions seemed quite outrageous. Despite that, I found myself chuckling at her adorable behavior.

Having noticed that I was still standing in front of the door, and Shael urged, “Go.”

“I won’t.”

“Eran Baslett, go check the Baslett family’s documents!”

Shael daringly used both my first and last names, hinting at her own frustration.

“There must be many important matters concerning the Baslett family.”

Shael’s words were blunt, yet behind the closed door, I sensed her waiting for my response.

So how could I alleviate Shael’s anger?

With a hand on the stubborn doorknob, I remarked, “This isn’t Eran Baslett.”

Simultaneously, I swung the door open, catching Shael off guard.

Ignoring her surprised expression, the first words out of my mouth conveyed my true feelings to Shael.

“I came as Shael Azbel’s lover!”

This was a statement I had never voiced so brusquely before, and it initially made me cringe.

Nevertheless, I felt a peculiar satisfaction.

“What are you doing…”

Shael subconsciously cried out, but even while looking bewildered, she managed to contain her surprise. Blushing, she raised her head, but her mouth remained tightly closed.

“Why, is there a problem?”

Shael remained silent, quite different from her usual self. Unlike the previous day, when she was open and communicative, Shael closed her mouth as if she didn’t want to talk to me.

It made me feel embarrassed, leaving me in quite a bit of distress.

Did this mean she was unwilling to communicate further?

Such thoughts would be embarrassing for anyone.

In reality, I hadn’t done much wrong. In order to spend a little more time with Shael, all I wanted to do was peruse the documents without her knowledge. Trying to understanding the reason behind her sadness required a multitude of complex considerations.

Was she behaving like that because she wanted to see me as soon as she woke up?

If so, it was an unexpectedly endearing motive—something that would dumbfound anyone who heard it.

However, Shael’s actions didn’t surprise me too much. From the start, Shael had a unique way of thinking.

Compared to her acts of stepping on beautiful flowers and bullying cute birds, this admission was like an angelic gesture.

Despite the confusion surrounding the situation, all doubts dissipated when faced with the adorable Shael.

In any case, my course of action was clear.

If Shael was upset, I needed to fix her mood. If she felt sad, my goal would be to make her happy.

Similarly, if Shael remained silent, I had to coax her into speaking.

As I approached the silent Shael, she initially turned her head away, seemingly unaffected.

However, that changed as I closed the distance even more, almost within touching distance.

“Are you going to keep silent?”

“…”

Normally, she would have protested with a blushing face.

But this time, she remained silent, her cheeks trembling as if in defiance.

Grasping Shael’s soft cheek, I tried to elicit a reaction, but she stubbornly kept her lips sealed. Her fighting spirit intensified, and she refused to succumb.

Shael’s lips parted, producing a teasing sound of wind—a clear provocation.

I gazed at her rosy cheeks, softer than before, and then at her tightly sealed lips.

Her lips looked soft, and I noticed the subtle scent of grapes, the fragrance unique to Shael. Despite her attempt to turn away, Shael’s body subtly faced me.

Each small detail endeared her to me.

Shaking off distracting thoughts, I focused on Shael. It wasn’t the time to be distracted; I wanted to ease her heart.

Shael’s lips parted once more, their softness evident.

However, this time, different thoughts occupied my mind—an overwhelming desire to claim Shael’s lips, to press mine against hers.

I doubted anything would ever make me feel this embarrassed.

But the thought continued to race through my mind.
