Chapter 24: The Fight (part 1)

Cunch! Cunch! Cunch!

An unpleasant sound filled the surroundings. It was the sound of Elton’s summon being eaten.

‘How…’

Of course, Cobie’s bind worked well. The intermediate demon didn’t move from the spot. It was he who made the move, and got himself in the trap.

[Grrrrhhhaa!]

The intermediate demon who finished eating the White Tiger was now staring at the two of them.

Elton, startled, stretched out his hand and tried to summon the White Tiger again. However, it was impossible to directly resurrect a summoned being that died during battle.

‘I have to run away…’

The most rational decision was to run away from the place.

The opponent was an intermediate level demon, but it wasn’t an ordinary intermediate level demon. There was a possibility that it was a higher-level demon hiding its power. Otherwise, his White Tiger would never have been so helpless.

‘…I have to run away now.’

However, the dead White Tiger couldn’t be revived that easily. For the resurrection of a summoned creature, the remains of the dead summoned creature would be needed, and that remain was now in the belly of the demon.

After enough time, the demon’s stomach acid would melt the remain and become the demons strength.

“No, run away!”

Elton’s instinct overcame his brain. He let out a frightened scream, as he tried to run for his life!

After a moment of bewilderment, Cobie also followed behind.

[Krrrrghhh!]

In nature, any sort of sudden screaming and body movement was considered a threat. And in the eyes of the demon, the actions of the two cadets were intimidating. So it counterattacked!

A part of the demon’s body stretched out like a whip, as it shot towards the two running away.

Elton and Cobie, who were caught by their ankles, were lifted into the air.

“What the hell!?”

It was only then that Elton realized why his summon had been devoured without being able to do anything. The true identity of the demon was in fact, a slime!

It had the ability to change it’s appearance freely, and it was almost immune to physical attacks. And, feeling the burning sensation coming from his ankle, it seemed to have acid as well.

“Kah, Cobie! Hurry! Hurry up and do something!”

“Ahhhh!”

“Fnck you! You stupid pig basta*d!”

Elton unconsciously ignored the fact that he had also done something stupid, which had caused them to fall in such a dire this situation.

As the captured opponent struggled without doing anything, the demon instinctively understood that it had the upper hand.

These two were its prey…and it was a predator.

There could be only two outcomes for a prey caught by a predator.

It could be a toy, or simply food.

Unfortunately for the two cadets, the demon chose the former.

Trchuk! Trchuk! Trchuk!

“Aww! Whoa, whoa, whoaaaa!”

Elton and Cobie, who were being spun round and round in the air, felt the gravitational acceleration beyond what they could bear and vomited out everything in their stomach.

The yellowish vomit scattered in the air, filling the entire area with putrid smell.

After suffering so much, Cobie made a remarkable progress.

“Ahhh! Dryad!”

He managed to awaken the second origin art of his summon, which he had never perceived in his life.

Numerous roots began to sprout like thorns from the entire body of the Dryad.

[Krrrrrrrrrchhh!]

Thanks to the branches that pierced in all directions, the tentacles that held them together were cut off. The two fell to the floor and ran straight down the slope.

To be precise, only Elton was able to escape that way.

“Sh1t! Fnck!”

“Waaait! Wait for meee!”

The oversized Cobie rolled to the floor.

Elton knew that he had fallen, but he couldn’t afford to rescue him

“I’ll go call the instructors!”

No matter how quickly he called the instructors, there was no chance that the Cobie would survive.

And, Cobie himself was instinctively aware of that fact.

“Sa…save me!”

But Elton continued to run without looking back.

Seeing Elton running away from him, Cobie felt indescribable anger.

“Haaa, that damn basta*d!”

And, there was only one place to release that anger—the demon.

“That, yes…you fncking demon basta*d. Come on!”

In theory, a 3-star summon would’ve been enough to hunt an intermediate demon alone. Moreover, the Dryad, a wood attribute summon, could inflict serious damage to slimes.

‘If so, I just have to try it.’

“Come on!”

The moment of despair forced the cowardly Cobie to became brave.

[Krrrrrrghh!]

And the demon lightly scattered its tentacles as if to say that Cobie’s resistance was insignificant.

“Aww!”

The fat and dull Cobie couldn’t avoid the assault and rolled over on the floor in pain.

[Master…command…]

In the meantime, Dryad, who didn’t receive proper orders, faced the slime demon head-on. Naturally, the Dryad was completely at a disadvantage when fighting against a demon with acidic properties.

Compared to the slime that could regenerate, the Dryad’s body was getting more and more damaged.

However, Cobie didn’t do anything

Even while the Dryad was fighting the demon with surprisingly excellent resistance, Cobie didn’t do anything.

Even when the demon devoured his summoned beast, Cobie didn’t do anything.

“…”

And, as the demon approached him, all Cobie could do was crawl on the floor, his face covered with tear and snot. In the end, even his bladder gave out.

‘I want to live…I want to live! God, please just let me live! From now on, I will try to be better. I will live by listening to my parents, losing weight, and donating a lot. So please, just give me one chance!’

“I want to live!”

“Anna.”

“Yes, Master!”

And someone heard that prayer.

However, he required no such thing as losing weight or making donations.

[Ian’s POV]

We continued climbing the mountain, and the atmosphere was pleasant enough for us to chatter while we walked.

“Is this training  going to be this easy?”

“You didn’t do anything.”

“I’m in charge of cuteness!”

“So you think that you’re cute?”

“Isn’t a woman who asks questions like that really unpopular?”

Syrah and Stella kept arguing, while Noah was following behind me without saying a word. It seemed like we were going on a picnic. There was no tension at all.

‘As Syrah said.’

It’s all too easy.

I was worried about whether training would be over in such a way. However, those worries soon disappeared.

“Ahhhh!!”

Our eyes turned towards the mountain ridge at the same time.

“Was it a scream now?”

“It sounds like their voice.”

“Uh, what should we do!? We need to go quickly!”

The moment I heard the scream, I summoned Anna and nodded.

  1. So they were going up the mountain without summoning their pets? At least MC did that. Pity that there is a fail safe for idiots who got their summons killed. So why the summons in vault were not resurected but left as heirlooms? Too much time from death? Too little remains?

Can someon explain to me why MC, being such a lazy bastard overall, is getting up in the morning to run an obstacle course for summons? Are those his habits from the army? Is this his joy from having healthy, not terminaly ill body?

Also why MC isn’t interacting with his sexy, soon to be enemy senior? He wanted to save her so he could play with her but she isn’t showing anymore.

    Thanks for chapter

    P.S. Caught up ????
